Model files in the GTA III game era (RenderWare engine) have the extension .dff
and are RenderWare binary stream files. The GTA IV game era utilises RAGE, which uses model formats ending with .wdr
, .wdd
or .wft
.
Tools and Scripts
The following tools and scripts can be used to import & export (edit) these model files.
- ZModeler 2 – ideal for beginners to 3D modelling
- GTAForums: OpenIV - view and export/import
- GTAForums: GIMS - 3DSMax import/export
- GTAForums: 3DSMax/Gmax import/export
- GTAGarage: LightWave export
- GTAForums: Dextool – 2dfx export from 3DSMax
- GTAForums: DFF Viewer – simply views DFF models, by Majestic (fedec96), note that models are mirrored on the x-axis
- GTAGarage: GTA Garage Mod Manager – can only view cars and weapons, by JernejL
