The Green Light District is an upcoming Total Conversion mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and maybe for Grand Theft Auto: IV. The mod is developed by a Dutch modding team.
This mod will contain three all new islands, a new storyline of more than 50 missions, new main characters, at least(!) fifty new cars(sportscars, vans, sedans, jeeps etc.), new weapons including sledgehammers, crowbars and much more.
It will be the biggest mod ever made on the Dutch GTAforum, gtaforum.nl. The mod is due out around 2011, although there is no fixed deadline.
History
This project started in 2005 and was official made for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and there were no plans to make a TC-Mod of it. It was inspired by the Red Light District in Grand Theft Auto: III. This mod should add one more island to Vice City, that was very simulair to Portland in GTA 3.
But things has changed at the last day before release, and the developers decided to stop creating the island. They were foccusing on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and sincethen it has been an Total Conversion mod. In the period between 2005 and 2007, the mod has restarted many times.
