Ked is an extended version of Moomapper programmed by Delfi, with help from the community at GTAForums. After a lot of work, Delfi was satisfied with Ked and released the Ked source code. A stable version of Ked is available and no more development is expected.

Some users feel the tool was not perfect but it had far greater capabilities than any other tool at the time. A newer tool called "MapEditor" (normally called MEd) is becoming a likely replacement for Ked, particularly as MEd features GTASA support.

Name Dispute

There is some uncertainty over what the abbreviated form if this tool's name should be. The complete name is "Kcow Editor" and logically the abbreviated form would be "KEd". However, the more common abbreviation is "Ked" which does not match the capitalisation of the full name. Because the name is so unique, either format can be used.

File Support

Ked supports GTA3 and GTAVC, allowing the user to create a list of their installs and decide which one to load. The editor supports a lage number of file formats.

GTA3 Formats

  • all .ide files used for objects placement
  • all .ipl files used for objects placement
  • gta3.dat
  • gta3.img
  • many .zon files, including:-
    • gta3.zon
    • map.zon

This list is incomplete.

GTAVC Formats

  • all .ide files used for objects placement
  • all .ipl files used for objects placement
  • gta_vc.dat
  • gta3.img
  • most *.ipl files, including:
    • paths.ipl

This list is incomplete.
